With the increasing use of laptop and mobile equipments, wireless broadband technology has been the great breakthrough. In order to support the wireless applications, better design and technology are needed in order to increase the speed and access method.
This article explained why WiFi and existing high-speed cellular networks being deployed today meet some of these needs, but OFDM-MIMO, used by WiMAX 802.16e or beyond 3G, is the technology needed to allow for economic and scalable wireless broadband. These technologies has also been employed in the other devices like MP3 players, PDAs, portable games devices and other handheld devices are equipped to provide wireless broadband, giving users a broadband connection wherever they go.
Although the author written it three years ago, but, for now we have indeed seen the MIMO and OFDM being realised and used extensively in the progress of wireless broadband technolgy. More and better technologies will be designed and build along the way to wireless broadband.
